Auto AC Condensers - Car AC Condensers - Automobile AC Condensers
Just like a car radiator, automobile AC condensers help to get all of the unnecessary heat out of your car. But instead of keeping the engine block cool, the car AC condenser condenses the coolant (or refrigerant for the AC system), which makes the passenger bay cool, keeping us from sweating heavy during the outrageous summer months.
The car AC condenser is located just in front of the radiator that we just talked about. As a part of your cars passenger cooling system, the car AC condenser does something special. After the coolant runs through the evaporator that is located just behind the cars cooling vents, it is pushed through cooling tubes that take heat away from you. But in order to work in the system, the refrigerant must be a gas form. So after it does its work and collects the heat when in gas form, the condenser allows all of the gas to collect and cool so that it can eventually be run through the system all over again and keep all of the happy passengers nice and cool. The fan and the outside rushing air helps in this process to reduce the temperature and therefore turn the gas back into the liquid refrigerant that keeps the whole thing cool.
But what happens if the car AC condenser fails?
If your AC system seems less-than-stellar and the car AC condenser fails, you might notice a few things. The most obvious is that the temperature in your car will be warm, even if you put the AC on the highest setting. Also, you may notice refrigerant leeks in or around the condenser where it connects to the inlets and outlets. Sometimes this is difficult to detect, depending upon the size of the crack or fracture. You may be able to use a special dye that helps make this leak more visible, but it may be easiest to bring your car to a local dealer or repair shop to check out the auto AC condenser and the system as a whole.
